The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has implemented a new “PreCheck” initiative on a test basis at four U.S. airports: Miami, Dallas-Fort Worth, Atlanta and Detroit. Designed to enhance security, the pilot program provides “trusted travelers” with the opportunity for expedited screening. The initiative, effective as of October 4, 2011, is open to a small number of frequent flyers on participating airlines and to travelers enrolled in the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol’s Trusted Traveler Programs.
